Re: Electrical cable inside of chimney chase
How would you have proper fire blocking if the chase has a cable running through it? I'm going to say that it is a No, No.

After I think about it for a moment, I guess you could have an outlet or line for the fireplace to power a blower. But it would not be running down the chase.

Re: Electrical cable inside of chimney chase
Just keep the NM cable away from the chimney vent.

If the cable runs through a firestop, seal around it just like you do when a cable runs through a top plate (fireblock).

Re: Electrical cable inside of chimney chase
The rest of the chase is ordinary construction. As long as the cable is stapled and fireblocked, I see no problems. Done all the time.
