Service panel conversion
I inspected a house today that has on old service panel that had been converted from fuses to breakers. The panel is being used, but not as the main service panel. It was originally rated at 30 amps and it appears to have 30 amp service wires entering it. I am recommending a licensed electrician further evaluate. Has any one seen this type of conversion before?

The proper recommendation is "Fuse panel interior was replaced with a breaker panel interior, now the entire panel, interior and enclosure, need to be replaced."

You are just asking for trouble with a Capital T if you defer to an electrician and do not make the call yourself.

Many times. Replace the panel.

If you call for a replacement and the electrician says otherwise, then something happens *YOU* *STILL* called for replacement - the electrician is on the hook, not you.
