Service Clearance
What is the minimum clearance over a detached garge or other structure for a overhead service line. 18" or 3 feet? The service does not attach to the structure it passes over it. The roof on the detached garage is 4:12 and is metal. I hope someone can clear this up for me. Thanks

Clearance 'above' the 4/12 roof is 3 feet.

Clearance 'above' the 4/12 roof at the final drip loop where it is attached to the mast and 'above the overhang' is 18 inches.

Allen

Refer NEC 2005 Article 230-24 (A) and read exceptions.
