K & B and insulation
Found this while strolling in an attic this morning. went straight down and turned the power off and called the realtor. luckily the house is vacant. The wire insulation was also missing in several places and it was all hot and hot Never a dull moment

Is the discoloration of the attic insulation 1) bleed-out of material from the wiring's insulation, 2) discoloration as a result of overheating, or 3) something else?

BTW, the condition of that particular section of wiring aside, the issue of knob and tub in insulated spaces is a bit more complicated that you might expect (or than I expected, anyway):
