Mold referral
Does anyone local have a referral for an industrial hygienist or company? Just had a friend ask who to call since the buyer has requested testing for something their home inspector called mold.
About the only thing I could tell her is don't hire a home inspector/mold guy but then came up short when trying to find a residential professional in the Dallas area.
Thanks, Jim

Re: Mold referral
No offense Ted, but this "NORMI" site offers "certification" in 8 or 16 hours.
Not what I am looking for, but thanks for offering. I am looking for someone who knows more about mold than a HI with a few one or two day courses. A real industrial hygenist that works in the residential realm.
Someone like, CaoimhĂ*n P. Connell would be nice

Re: Mold referral
Just pulled a couple of lists up quick. Any long lived Mold remediation company should be able to do the job. I am certainly not a mold inspector but it is pretty basic testing. Sending the samples off to a lab will give the same results no matter who pulls the samples (as long as they are collected properly).
I do know a few mold testers but 2 are home inspectors and the other I could not find the info.
Certainly no offence taken Mr Jim
Just tryin to be my helpful little self
Like I say, slow start to the week

Re: Mold referral
Sometimes I get that request. I refer them to the Texas department of health - right after I tell them they do have mold and will be wasting their money.

Re: Mold referral
That is my general method as well, just refer them to the EPA brochure and web site, but this is coming from the other end.
The buyer's inspector said they had mold (of course this is at least third hand information) and the buyers want the sellers (my friend) to get mold testing / remediation for the dirt around an air vent (no I have not seen it).
I just don't want the friends to waste money getting involved in the mold is gold merchants.
