Re: electric eye height
The DASMA technical data sheet says no more than 6 inches from floor. I think most manufacturers recommend 4-6 inches.

Re: electric eye height
I guess this should be more obvious than it is to me...
The document indicates 4-6 inches above the floor. I am assuming we are measuring the actual location of the "eye" above the floor, not to the eye case.
Recently had quite a few where the eye measured significantly out of specifications. I am just trying to cover my anatomy so when the builder calls and complains because he measured from point X and I am measuring from point Y. I generally include a photo in the report.

From the posted document:
Ismanufacturer that photoelectric eyes are not necessary if not present?
photoelectric eye beam no higher than 6 inches above the floor, or can it be verified via the door

Re: electric eye height
Bruce,
Unless you find an installation instructions which says something other than to mount the photoelectric eye beam ... (yes, that) ... between 4" and 6" above the floor, then the photoelectric eye beam ... (yes that) is what is being referenced.
From David's link to DASMA: (underlining is mine)
- 8. Photoelectric Eyes Location: The door may be either fully open or fully closed for this inspection. Note whether photoelectric eyes are present, and if so, locate and measure the distance of photoelectric eye beam from floor. Is photoelectric eye beam no higher than 6 inches above the floor, or can it be verified via the door manufacturer that photoelectric eyes are not necessary if not present?
