    Default Ledger Flashing

90% of the time I'm writing up decks for no ledger board flashing. Then I ran across this yesterday. A bit of overkill especially since it was a fully covered screen porch.

But was the flashing installed correctly?

NO. Check the pictures of the roof flashing at brick wall I'll post later. Small counter flashing over brick and mortar no step flashing under it on pitched roof.

This was a custom built house in a high-brow development built in 2006. Not awful, but sure not what somebody thought they were getting at the time. But they did build the large masonry double wide "dummy" chimney. All for a direct vented gas log appliance to pass through, not vent up.

I'm guessing it was installed simply to shield the brick when the deck is cleaned. I looks like it's got some corrosion toward the bottom.

Do not think of knocking out another person's brains because he differs in opinion from you. It would be as rational to knock yourself on the head because you differ from yourself ten years ago.
