deck posts and footer
came across this yesterday----how would you write it up and recommend---the rest of the deck was sound and construted properly----would you call this the cart before the horse

Its obvious that the posts are not centered over that so called footing.

Be willing to bet that is just some concrete poured within those wooden forms and those forms should have been removed so the termites won't devour them.

Looks like amatuer work.

Eccentrically loaded footings, if that is what those are, provide engineering that the footings are designed for eccentric loading (which will also answer the question of 'if that is what those are').

As Rick said, those wood forms should have been, and need to be, removed, and those footings are also likely to only be skin deep (as deep as the wood forms).
