Firestop
Is thin sheet metal an approved material for firestop around chimney in attic?
Also layed in place and not secured.

Dave,
It must be sheet metal (not aluminum) directly around the chimney pipe. An approved material must extend past this point if required to close any remaining open area. Also note the all ends and joints must be secured in order to proved an adequate and effective barrier.
