Everything was fine till I looked at the photo taken from the of the ash clean out door in the basement.oops

yes, under the hearth and that small square at the top is the ash dump door. This thing caught on fire before but i am assuming that the lack of air supply smothered it.
This is why I always shoot some pics from the cleanout doors if I can get my camera in there.
And my guess would be that absolutely nothing will be done about it.

Here's one from today.... the seller advertised the house as 2 wood burning fireplaces... luckily, they never tried the basement one I'm guesing. What a mess.
