    I've learned via the consumption of a considerable quantity of crow that you have to check each manufacturer's instructions - some allow placement closer than (I anyway) expected.

    Per each Fp listed instructions but usually btw 6-12". Some vary if window operable or fixed shut. Different clearances for below, aside or above windows, doors, decks, corners,--enough for a whole page. Cannot generalize or assume.

    Keep the fire in the fireplace.

    I wouldn't have a problem with it if that large window to the right of it as shown in photo is fixed (i.e. non-operable).

    Seriously doubt these to be stationary units due to all viewable units having the lower sash screened, but there is always that chance.
