and behind door number two...
you can see the creosote in there if you look carefully. Used to be a woodstove hook-up, I guess. No woodstove there now. Just a too-short chimney with no cap and loaded with creosote. Oh, and, a hole in the wall.

What is that fine Z-brick job attached to? Any chance of combustibles in that wall? Of course, that creosote needs to be removed as much as possible before use. Short shimneys such as lower levels in split level homes are good candidates for gas direct vent stoves or pellet stoves but not woodburners.

Guess there was no string or level on the job site that day.........
