You see a lot of older homes that once used coal or fuel oil converted to natural gas, does the natural gas furnace need a liner installed in the old brick chimneyh to be legal or can you just tie the gas furnace into the side of the chimeny where the ole equipment was. thanks

Daniel - A liner should be installed. The gas exhaust is cooler and, I believe, contains more water vapor than coal or oil. Aside from the fact that all that condensate will damage the old masonry flue, the flue is probably also too big for the gas furnace, which just makes the problem worse.
