Fireplace screens
Do most codes require wood burning fireplaces to have fireplace screens or glass doors?. I know that it is a good idea but would like to know if it is required by code.

And what if screens were not required by applicable codes? You still wouldn't ignore their absence. It's one of those situations where I couldn't care less what the code says - missing screens are a safety issue and need to be installed.
