Smells like a DIY?
Today I had two gas fireplaces in a residence. The question I have... They routed the gas pipe (I believe CSST) from the basement through the exterior wall, strapped it to the chimney, poked a hole through the backside of the combustion chamber and hooked it up to the flex line for the fireplace. It's my understanding that you can't do that? Am I right?

Thanks,
Reis

Re: Smells like a DIY?
DIY or spouse looking to collect big insurance policy.
Not an acceptable install or safe. We don't really use that stuff around here so I don't know it's exterior use. However, unless the fireplace is bricked up at the interior how do they guarantee there won't be any flame?

All other indications of this guy being a candidate for a Darwin Award set aside, Where is the cut-off valve?

Re: Smells like a DIY?
There was one in the floor of the 1st floor fireplace and none in the basement... I got that... I just wanted to make sure that I was on the right track with the supply line.
