Word Recognition
Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people who continue to hang on to their belief there is no such thing as a warming climate and which also blocks bright ideas from penetrating their tiny little closed down minds. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

Re: Word Recognition
So are you saying that stupid people emit Bozone, or that being surrounded by Bozone makes people stupid? Or is it, stupid people and Bozone are attracted to the other?

Re: Word Recognition
I think it's that not-stupid people emit Frezone and Frezone burns holes through Bozone, thereby allowing smartness in and out - smartness is a two way street, smarts coming in and going out, both at the same time, yet the smartness builds up to replace the Frezone emitted. People with a lot of smartness emit a lot of Frezone, reducing the Bozone layer around them much faster. Therefore it is presumed, but not yet scientifically proven, that there is a relationship between smartness and Frezone. It has been postulated that smartness contains Frezone, thus the more smartness one has, the more Frezone emitted. The APE considered banning Frezone and replacing it with Purzone, but that never went anywhere because the APE committee did not collectively emit sufficient amounts of Frezone.

Re: Word Recognition
Well now, if smart people emit Frezone, where do they emit it from? If it's from their "back side", would that make them a "smart XXX"?
"Frezone burns holes "
I know when I emit Frezon, it sure does burned holes.

Re: Word Recognition
No doubt, the world is warming up.... but, 30 years ago we were afraid we were going to freeze to death. There's a TIME magazine article that Dennis Miller brought onto The Tonight Show that talks about ways we should work on warming the polar ice caps because scientists were afraid we were headed into another ice age. The article was in the 1970's
Now? We're all going to burn up? I'm not saying it's not true... But, I'm not ready to start speaking it as my religion like many people.
It's funny how the right and left have their different paranoias - The right thinks extriemest muslims are going to overtake the country (after the left overturns the 2nd ammendment and takes all their guns, of course) and the left thinks we're all going to burn up (after the right leaves their gas guzzling SUVs idling in their driveways all night).
In reality, nobody knows.... people claim to think they do because they saw it on the news.... If the left stopped watching NPR and the right stopped watching FOX news they might both learn something.
What I do know is that I live in a low lying valley that rarely sees snow and I had 12" on my driveway for several weeks in December..... So, if I'm burning up it seems to be going rather slowly.

Cruising for chicks on whittier blvd on a Friday night in 1972. just when did I caused this ?
When I was riding my Harley across the sierra's ? That was the mother of all rides 1,100 milles on the HOG.
Do you think the cows in the valley had anything to do with it P...U...
Maybe I did when I was BBQ Some tri-tip... Every weekend.
The grand kids are coming over better put on a few hot dogs for jake & josh.
Maybe I did it when I was mowing the grass with the rider.
Never did like them push mowers.
I had better stop doing all this stuff before I kill us all...
I do miss that 52 Chev 210 post... my first car at 13 years
I am glad that algore has a jumbo-jet to get around in so he can sound the warning about me doing all this stuff...
Some one has to stop me!!! Im going to kill us all...

Re: Word Recognition
It got "Up" into the 50's here yesterday so I decided to squeeze in a ride at the end of the day. I pulled over to return a phone call & ended up answering some questions & booking an inspection, all the while forgetting I had left the ignition on, an Ultra Classic will drain the battery pretty quick & when I went to leave, click click click. Oh well, pulled the seat, got a jump, & all's well that end's well & any time you can end the day with a ride is a good day!
P.S. High is low 30's today

Beats me, just like I don't know why you linked to it in the first place, when it says "but Dr. Vaughan doubted that it could be affecting other glaciers in West Antarctica, which have also thinned in recent years. Most glaciologists, including Dr. Vaughan, say that warmer ocean water is the primary cause."
Why did they write the article?
Maybe for the same reason you linked to it.

Now J.P.
We are talking about " Theories " not proven Facts. ( idea, ponderous, notion, )
As the Pacific Volcanic Rim is shown extending into that area (at least half a dozen known land Volcanoes in Antarctica) a recently discovered underwater Volcano, this appears to a rather active Volcanic Region. Why would this not be pertinent to a decrease in ice volume ?

Re: Word Recognition
Aaron,
Nope.
Those who believe in "a god" are likely to believe in a "higher power", which can be anything from the paranormal to ... whatever.
Those who believe in what they call "God" only believe in the one god they call God. They are the true non-believers as they only believe in one god, not all gods.
But we've had this discussion before.
I believe it was Ted who pointed out that there are thousands of religions, and those who believe in only one god are 99.9% atheist, or only 0.1% religious.

The point is that they believe in ALL of these Gods and gods. They don't want to admit they believe in all of them, but why then do they write and talk about them all? Even God himself went to a lot of trouble and took up a lot of pages in the "Book" holding forth about this god and that one. And if God wrote it, it must by God be the truth, right? "Thou shalt have no other gods before me!" Which gods, if you're the only one? What about after you? Can we have them then? Why not?

Re: Word Recognition
Ron,
You should have thought about this deal first.
I put in for $250 billion and told them I would buy $249 BILLION in bad mortgages that I would then turn over to the banks, making the bad mortgages paid off, turning the worthless paper into real money.
That gets $250 billion off the books, buys us out of the housing crisis, lets people keep their homes, and, most importantly, gives the banks real money to lend to make good loan with.
Nothing but win-win-win in there.
