Yeah, use the font color selector in the menu across the top of the message posting window.

Have you gone to 'User CP', clicked on 'Edit Options', then scrolled down to the bottom of the page at 'Miscellaneous Options' and selected 'Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing'?

WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get"
