What kind of bug is this?
Das ist ein krautwagen!
Sorry, can't get into the politics on that other thread. It is meaningful discussion, but minds are all made up.
Hey, after WW II, who knew many of us would be driving German cars and singing the praises of German engineering?
15 years ago, travel to China was taboo, let alone doing business with them. Now they own us.
There are only two political parties in the US. How would you like to have five? One of them is a separatist party that refuses to speak English!
In Canada, we have had medical plan since the 60's. Last time I looked, the Canadian dollar is stronger than usual, and we are doing alright. It costs an adult $54 a month for medical insurance. If I have to get medical attention, I just go get it. When my kids were sick, they went to the doctor, no hesitation. They didn't have to wait for Dad to pawn the lawnmower and Mommy's jewelry first.
We have plenty to gripe about here, like the Harmonized Sales Tax which is being inflicted upon us by the right wing party of the day. Tax on an inspection will jump from 5% to 12%. Ouch.

Good call, Ron. I like the colour (color), red with green/brown overtones.
We have plenty to gripe about here, like the Harmonized Sales Tax which is being inflicted upon us by the right wing party of the day. Tax on an inspection will jump from 5% to 12%. Ouch. Our local Liberal Party of British Columbia appears to have made a deal with the national right wing Conservatives to force this tax upon us. They made no mention of the tax coming in while they were campaigning to win their second term last year. They knew they would not be elected if the people had known this was coming.
The more left wing party in our province is opposed to the tax, but then, they have to be opposed to everything , anyway. I hate politics.
Ray, how do you like dealing with the HST in Ontario? Is it making the world a better place?

Re: What kind of bug is this?
Hi John
The HST is coming to Ontario in July. No problem with harmonized tax, but... the liberal government here has found it necessary to add sales tax (8%) on items which were never previously taxed and therein lies the problem. Even with the rebates offered to offset the new sales taxes will not begin to compensate the increased taxes the provincial government will take in.
This will only aid in further fostering of the underground economy.
These are the same liberal dolts who wasted $1 billion dollars on e-health. Dalton McGuinty is a pathological liar and has a history of reneging on his promises.
Just posting this gets my blood pressure up.
Cheers,

So
How do your taxes break down in the north pole.
We have social security, medicare, Medicaid and federal tax. I won't get into all the countless other taxes that do not come from paycheck (to many to consider). Of course I won't get into unemployment tax ....like I said the list is huge and growing, both state and federal. Of course the state of Texas charges a franchise fee (tax) and now ATT is passing that on 7 -8% as well as all other businesses that pay that franchise tax that already goes to the purchases and sales tax at 8% depending on where you are. etc etc etc etc etc
I just never heard how our Northern inhabitants get shaken down.

.
It's complicated. We use coloured money and there's no nickel in our nickel, no silver in our dimes. (hey, that's poetry).
In my area, you can't buy a detached SF home for less than $300,000 and most are over $500,000. A decent car costs $20,000. average wage might be $35,000/yr. Half of that goes for tax.
I just never heard how our Northern inhabitants get shaken down.[/quote]Well I know we have to pay to register and own a gun here. Unless you're a criminal, then it's free.
Otherwise, we are joined at the hip to our southern neighbours and if you go down, so could we, unless we become a Chinese republic.
Go red and get a factory job!

... and in BC only Sheiks can openly display posters on a display float showing dead martyr's belonging to terrorist group which the Canadian government has labeled as such and further make threats against one Federal minister and one provincial minister.
Welcome to politically correct Canada where we have a legal system but no justice system.

That's called shaken down. 35,000 and half that goes to taxes....but other than that you can go to the doctors.
How does one buy a 300,000 dollar home making 35..I'm sorry, 17,500 a year times 2 incomes at that due to the wife.....That is not a 300,000 dollar home buyer and most are over 500,000.
Take note America...well....US...I guess we all live in America.

Re: What kind of bug is this?
"Wing" is British for "fender", if that's what you mean? And the left "wing" is the same as the right, but in an opposite way.
Ron, you're close but it's a 67 or older. My Mom's 68 had sealed beam headlights.
You will need to know this for next time you come across a bug like this in the woods.
For the older ones, you'll need a 6 volt battery, under the back seat.
You could really make sparks fly in that back seat!

Re: What kind of bug is this?
Usually, the buyers have $ from sale of another property, or family is helping out. I don't know how they do it, but they're buying and renting out the basement, or living in the basement and renting out the main floor. Low-income people rent, they don't buy. It's like the European system, more renters than owners.
