    Question Foundation certifications

I've heard of Harrison and Hayman engineering for these inspections but has anybody heard of Sark & Associates?
I can't find a web site for them. They may be just Michigan but has anybody worked with this company?
    Thanks in advance,

Never heard of them. Might just be a local thing. I'm in CA and have been inspecting for Harrison Engineering for a couple of years. Not a lot of work but they pay pretty fast and it's easy work.

    Thanks in advance,
    Rick:
I found a Indiana architectural firm of Sark & Associates but didn't look like they are into engineering:
Harold Sark and Associates Inc Architects
I have been working with Haymen, indirectly through FoundationPlus who has a retro-fit system for making the manufactured home compliant to HUD standards.
As I understand, conventional mortgages are not being written for existing manufactured homes without government backed loans which all required the HUD foundation certification.
I have been trying to market this service to Realtor, offering an evaluation without charge, telling the home owner rather the home is compliant, giving them the cost for issuing the Certification, or if not compliant, giving them the cost for upgrade and Certification. This would allow the Seller and Realtor to list "FHA Financing Available" and the seller would know how much this would cost them. Seems like a no brianer to me but have not gotten to many takers yet.
Just wondering if others have run across this financing requirement?

Gary, I've been working with Harrision for the foundation certifications. Another Grand Rapids home inspector did an inspection for Sark and told me about it. But I can't find anything on them.
    Thanks all for the replies!

    Scott,

I was approached by Harrison several months ago. I read about them (him) and read over his application and process.

When I called him, I asked if he provided insurance or if I was in anyway covered through his insurance; he replied that I would have to purchase my own.

That really turned me off, so I didn't pursue it.

It also seemed to me that he received a disproportionate amount of the fee. I do quite a few FHA finals on mobile homes and asked if he would get a fee for my "steady punches" if I sold them on a foundation inspection. They (both he and his secretary) never seemed to understand the question which again caused me to pause.

So......I'm asking you and all concerned. Am I being over-analytical? Are you all successfully doing these foundation inspections without a hitch? Are you happy with the arrangement?

    Thanks,
    Bruce

My regular HI insurance covers me for these. I do them anyway for a regular HI. The jobs are an easy $150 for 15-30 minutes work. Can't complain.

I work for both Harrison and Hayman. Have a good relationship with both but I am having problem getting paid by Hayman. Harrison pays within 10 days. Anybody having problems with Hayman?
