Just doing my small part to help Finish The Fight against cancer.

I am the Committee Chairman for the San Clemente Relay For Life and yesterday the Mayor of the city presented me with the Proclamation form the city.

The Proclamation reads....


Whereas, Relay For Life is the signature activity of the American Cancer Society and celebrates cancer survivors and caregivers, and remembers loved ones lost to the disease; and

Whereas, money raised during Relay For Life activities in San Clemente supports the American Cancer Society's mission of saving lives and creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays; and


Whereas, the annual Relay For Life of San Clemente is a 24-hour event that offers people an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer; and


Whereas, the Relay For Life of San Clemente is a unique and effective means of enhancing community goodwill while raising funds for the American Cancer Society's programs of research, education advocacy and service; and


Whereas, the City of San Clemente is proud of San Clemente's Relay For Life Chairman Brian Hannigan and Master of Ceremonies Mike Hurlbut for their commitment to this important cause.


Now, Therefore, I, Chris Hamm, Mayor of the City of San Clemente, California, acting on behalf of the City Council and citizens of San Clemente, do hereby proclaim July 25th and July 26th as "Relay For Life Days" in San Clemente and encourage citizens to participate in the Relay For Life event at San Clemente High School.

Fitting that I just got this. Today would have been my dad's birthday. He died from cancer when I was 5 in 1969. Gone but never forgotten, and my mother is a two time survivor. I am committed to help finish the fight against cancer.

Thank you all!

Thursday night we had our Kickoff party and that turned out great.

In June we will have a brunch to celebrate survivors and caretakers and then our Relay For Life will be on July 25th-26th.

Looking forward to doing good in the community and help to Finish The Fight against cancer.
