Mold Remediation
Just ran across this Nachi TV thing
NACHI.TV - Episode 13 - Ozone and Mold Eradication (PROMO)
Ok.... let's vote.
I heard a while back, that ozone kills mold.
The EPA says otherwise.....
what say y'all?

Re: Mold Remediation
No I didn't.
I do not monitor the nachi site.
It sounds like there was some heat.
can you condense it for me?

Re: Mold Remediation
There was quite a bit of reaction to the claims in the NACHI.TV piece and someone that claimed to have personal experience with the same company that wasn't very favorable.
The Ozone concentrations produced are very very high and require the occupants to be gone while the treatment is occurring.
It may or may not work but I wouldn't recommend it myself without better evidence. I have seen a dry-ice blasting system that seems a better alternative though much more pricey.

Re: Mold Remediation
What the heck is NACHI TV?
Looks like it is being filmed in a garage.
As far as killing the spores; If I recall properly from my abatement plan writing days, the high levels will kill the spores but it does not stop the allergic reaction that the spore cell walls cause. Also it is only good for spores that are on the surface. If they are below the surface they are protected.
It is a feel good treatment. Open the windows and the doors and the spores are back!

Re: Mold Remediation
I have read and completely agree with Caoimhin P. Connell's assessment of the mold issue. When the owner of the company called mold "Black Toxic Mold", my radar went on full tilt boogey. I also noted that the "TV" piece had a disclaimer attached, calling it a "Promo". As such, just as with any other "promos", I looked at it with some built-in skepticism.
My understanding is that Mold, being a living, biological organism, requires oxygen to sustain it. The "Ozone Generator" converts the Oxygen, thereby depriving the organism of it's life sustaining environment. In effect, killing it.
I can even believe the claim that the ozone will filtrate into the wall cavities through cutouts for electrical outlets etc. I just can't see it covering every square inch of wall cavity without some holes being cut into the wall to allow the ozone to filter in..
I suppose that the process takes place much like tenting a home for termite eradication.
I really don't care about nachi issues or Gromicko issues or any urinating contests that seem to take place.
I'm just interested in the science of Ozone Vs. living organisms.
