Default NO OUTLETS AROUND KITCHEN CABINET AREA.

I recently inspected a house that had just been rehabbed, to use the term loosely, they put new drywall around sink and cabinet area leaving no outlets for the kitchen appliances. I was not sure if that was a code violation, I just wrote it up as recommending outlets to be installed in that area. Not sure what the IRC says

They need a minimum of 2- 20amp receptacles and they should be GFCI protected.

And no counterspace more than 24" horizontally from a receptacle outlet, i.e., within 2' of an end, edge of sink, edge of range, and not more than 4' apart - measured horizontally along the wall/countertop line.

    Daniel,

This points to a larger issue - most likely the entire rehab project was done without permits. In most areas a project such as this would require permits. If this is not noted in the disclosure, I usually write it up.
