No More Snow Please
I've already shoveled twice today and there's still plenty that needs to get done around our cars. On top of this, my car wouldn't start yesterday morning when I went to take my son and our neighbor's son to school. I also had an 11:00am inspection and a roof to try and look at and by a miracle, a local inspector offered me his car to use when all I was hoping for was to find somebody who could fill in and help my clients. Big thanks to Dave Scott from Sherlock Homes Inspection Services.
Now I still have to get my car dug out and towed up to our garage so they can get it back in working order.

Re: No More Snow Please
Twice?! I wish. I actually lost count on account of exhaustion. I think I shoveled my entire 180 feet of sidewalk 4 times. I haven't seen this much snow since I lived in Vermont and had no sidewalk to shovel. And it's till coming down, or sideways, or whatever. And it's wet and heavy, not that nice fluffy stuff we had about 5 days ago. We have now had the most snow in any winter since they started keeping track in 1859 B.C., or whenever. And it's only February 10th!
Sorry, Nick, but they're forecasting more for Monday, if you can believe it.

Re: No More Snow Please
You are seeing it falling from the sky ... it's little white flakes known as "snow", and, yes, it really is tied to "global warming" (if one bothered to watch, read, listen, and understand the concept behind it and how "warming" can lead to the next "ice age").
A strange concept to some, but really is simple to understand.

Re: No More Snow Please
You're used to snow Ken, they're not.
Why golly, they even took the snowplows off the roads for awhile.
Just like they do up there, all the time, when it gets bad enough.
Funny stuff for those used to dealing with snow.
They're not.
Heck, around here, schools shut down for a half inch of snow.
My grandkids love it. They don't understand that they're giving up a great day to play outside so they can stay inside on a snow day. Gotta make up those snow days.

Re: No More Snow Please
The city plows up here won't even go out until the snow stops. Even then we have to get at least 4 inches before they'll go out. Heck, the City of St Paul doesn't plow alleys at all.

Hey
We had almost 3" of snow yesterday, in Columbus (middle) GA.
It's rare to even SEE snow here.

Re: No More Snow Please
We have had snow here twice in the last two weeks and it is rare to even get it once. Typically we get ice storms. I think if I moved up north I would install heat strips in the sidewalk and driveway and tap into my neighbors house

Re: No More Snow Please
Checking in from the typically warm Houston area where my this year has been the worst I can remember in regards to cold, rain, wind and yes, even snow.
Getting estimates on new HVAC equipment for my personal residence, the sales rep indicated they have way more calls this year than usual on heater problems. Usually we only use them for what seems like maybe a couple of weeks during the year.
Some folks in Dallas were shoveling up to a foot of Global Warming from their sidewalks and driveways.

We got about 36" here in my town last week. It was 24" from a storm last Fri-Sat and another 12" from a storm on Wed-Thurs. We have broken a seasonal record this year. 80" + for the season so far.

Re: No More Snow Please
Winter seems to be giving them a problem in Maryland.
It's winter in Maryland ,
And the gentle breezes blow,
70 miles per hour at 2 below!
Oh, how I love Maryland ,
When the snow's up to your butt;
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Maryland ,
Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

Re: No More Snow Please
Well here in Ohio we now have approx. 18" of snow on the ground. Makes for difficult inspecting and return trips to verify roofs, patio, driveways and anything else that an inspector can't get to due to the snow covering. I carry a snow shovel but only so I can get in and out of a driveway of a foreclosed home.
I might have to start adding on snow shoveling fee, ha ha.
Had one client ask if I got on the roof to check its exterior, I hope he was just joking.
