Active Rain works! - InspectionNews

I have just booked my 3rd inspection from folks finding me on the Active Rain website. The AR website link was posted several months back, I thought I would re-post the information one more time. Many home inspectors have already signed up for their own FREE page. This is the link:

Scott,

Over the last few days I have been reading some of the Home Inspection blogs at Active Rain. Many of the ones I have read seem to be especially Realtor friendly. (I'm not putting you in that category by any means. I read your response to a couple of posts.)

Is Active Rain free to use? I may give it a shot myself.

Yep it is free to use..

Yes, you have several home inspectors who write articles to market themselves to the agents that use AR. I seldom pay much attention to them. You also have a few inspectors who cut and paste articles that others have authored, and they fail to acknowledge it. For some reason most of the folks in this group tend to have the acronym "CMI" after their name. This grips my grits!

For the most part the site it worth the time and effort.

Just took a look over there, this is the first HI post I found:

Before we venture out, let's head to the basement and check something really important: the basement walls...The first order of business is pull everything away from the walls so you can see all sides, top to bottom. If you finish your basement, build the walls out far enough so you can examine the foundation. What type of walls do you have? A rule of thumb, stone is the best. This is only present in very old houses, but it's the most solid foundation you can have. Poured concrete is the next best thing to stone. You are inspecting it to find damage that can result in structural failure...

Jeez, no wonder so many people think HIs are jerks and don't know anything.

Yeah, the best for allowing prolonged moisture infiltration and high humidity levels.

Checked Blue Bells web site -says he a member of ASHI-but who knows.
Stone foundations are the best,thats a good one!
