Good Night
Well, so far so good. No smoke or fire from the servers and no nasty e-mails.
I got 4 hours sleep the night before last and pulled an all nighter last night. Everything looks good so far so i'm going to catch a few Zs.
I will answer any questions when I wake up.
Enjoy and please check out http://www.inspectionradio.com

Re: Good Night
Brian,
I can not add my photo to my profile. Maybe my picture broke the server.
It is under 3 k and 89x100 pixels.
Is this just a little bug or am I not doing something right.
I know you have a lot to do. This is not that important, just add it to your list to look into some time.
Get some sleep, you earned it.
Thanks

Re: Good Night
Thanks Brian.
I have tried to install inspection radio a few times using Firefox, but it doesn't take - I get a download error message.

Re: Good Night
Thanks Brian,
One thing I am missing already to the ability to call up the most recently posted messages across the spectrum of topics. Or perhaps I have just not found that function yet?
Otherwise I’m still “inspecting” the new place this morning as you "sleep it off".
------------------------------------------------
OK...its after lunch now and my eyes have cleared enough to find the "New Posts" link at the top of the page!
PS I think I have more posts on the new board than Jerry Peck right now!

Re: Good Night
Philip, Looks like they are all archived. I guess we have to cut and paste to revive a selection.

On the top menu bar select "New Posts" and/or on the menu bar under "quick links" select "Today's Posts"
PS I think I have more posts on the new board than Jerry Peck right now
That won't last long

Thank you,
Thank you Jerry. While I can not take credit for the bare bones of the message board there was an incredible amount of thought and time into modifying it to bring it to this level.
As time goes on I will continue to post tips on how to use the board and get the most out of it.
So far the replies and e-mails have been very positive with very few issues to look into. You know that makes me happy as you never know how people are going to react to it or how the board will function once everyone is on it.
Please tell others about the new board and get them signed up.
I hope you are having a great weekend!

Re: Good Night
I like the option of displaying the newest post at the top of the thread, instead of having to scroll down to the bottom.

Brian,
"PS I think I have more posts on the new board than Jerry Peck right now "
When I went to 'quote' you, only the 'that won't last long' came up in the quote.
Dang! Just did reach 12,000 and you go can make us start from scratch again!
Except ... It's a bit busy for me to use easily. I'm a plain guy, guess it overpowers the visual senses. Maybe I'll be able to find where I'm trying to go.

Re: Good Night
Hi Jerry,
Not to worry, a small learning curve and you will be good to go. These are all the "extras" you asked for
I will try to find a way to pad all ot the post with the numbers from the previous board.
If you have any questions most of them are spelled out in the FAQs http://www.inspectionnews.net/home_i...php?faq=vb_faq
If you have more questions just post them in the "H E L P !" section.

Re: Good Night
Hang in there Jerry P (and keep on posting!),
Anything new for us is going to be somewhat disconcerting. That’s a given! I think however that a more sophisticated message board will serve our industry better in the long run even though there will be a learning curve that requires an initial tackle to fully encompass. What’s new about that? Well…nothing actually.
We all had to learn the ropes from the beginning one way or another. The irony is that newcomers to the world of home inspection are very likely going to be more familiar with this type of message board forum than you and I might be as "old hacks". While this may be "new school" to some of us, its going to be "old school" to just as many others.
You and I can honestly debate all the particulars later on as we no doubt will.

Re: Good Night
Hey Jerry,
Maybe I can help you for a change.
Talk about your role reversal.
I have no doubt that in a few days you'll be back to answering our questions and about how to use this board.

Re: Good Night
Brian,
I tried to 'edit profile' and I got this message.
"A required field called Location is missing or has an invalid value."
Yeah, it is not overpowering the visual senses as much this second time in. Guess that's because the link went right in past the other stuff?

I'll look into that.
