Re: NACHI and ASHI Buddies
John,
Your post and picture may mislead some people. I have personally known Frank Lesh for many years and have met Scott once and gotten to "know" him through his many forum posts. If you have any doubt as to the relationship between ASHI and NACHI I would like to assure you that there are vast differences between the two organizations. They simply cannot be compared.
To be honest (and polite), I see no benefit to your post.

When the ASHI leadership agreed to get together with NACHI founder
Nick Gromicko at this event and then pose for a friendly looking picture together,
they both knew exactly what image would be seen by all of this. It is now your
problem to deal with it. They created the "misleading" problem you speak of.
From my point of view I see no problem and enjoyed seeing these guys
together, acting like mature professionals, who can actually be in the
same room together and look happy. What's the problem?
BTW... the title of this message board is INSPECTION NEWS.
This picture is news. No harm was intended or misleading statements made.
Relax.

Re: NACHI and ASHI Buddies
To me that looks no different than when opposing world leaders meet to discuss their differences.

Re: NACHI and ASHI Buddies
It's important in life to choose one's friends carefully. It's also important who you have your photo taken with. I suspect Nick has never passed up a photo op and what message does that picture send to the rankinfile? "All is well in ASHI-NACHI land?" I don't think so....., but I could be wrong.
PS: you should also notice Nick's arm is always on the shoulder of his next er-ah..... victim.

Perhaps a person of confidence doesn't worry about being seen with
other leaders in the HI industry. I doubt the rankinfile will be damaged
by a picture and are not that fragile.
I suspect Scott was not worried about becoming a "victim" as Nick
actually "touched" his shoulder. I know Nick has a lot of influence
in the HI industry, but he is not jack the ripper.
BTW.... Nick was invited by ASHI to this convention. See picture
below of Nick answering questions.

Re: NACHI and ASHI Buddies
John,
I agree that seeing a friendly pose amongst leaders of "opposing sides" is refreshing. But as you know all has not been smooth between NACHI and ASHI and as I mentioned above, some people may have wondered where you were going with your post. I did. A comment or two in your post would have been helpful.
Thanks for the follow up clarification.
Relaxed and enjoying a Cubs game,

Re: NACHI and ASHI Buddies
I've seen many times when someone has a friend with a camera, and they run up to (anyone they want a photo with), get in the pose and the photo is taken before the other person (or persons) can react.
Or they are taken by surprise and don't want to appear like a jerk.
I would be interested in hearing from Frank and/or Scott about how the photo came about.

posing together does not make friends
Enclosed is a pic any old hippies on the list might recognize. These guys had some bitter court battles. After 30 years apart, they came together for Live 8 for one performance then went their separate ways. They learned to be civil without having to be friends. Big difference.
I'm glad the lines of communication opened briefly but don't think everything is settled on this and there is still bad blood. As a non-home inspector, I see, hear, and feel the tension and animosity when I'm around you guys. Just learn to be civil and stick to your own business. Don't fall into the trap of bashing others. Not taking sides as I'm sure the mud slinging has been across the board.
Time better spent moving on with life.
Bob

Re: NACHI and ASHI Buddies
Hi all,
Yes, it was a Kodak moment! Even more photos might appear, I have a few as well. OK, let me set the stage for this photo. This was late in the afternoon on Friday. I had been working the ASHI booth, meeting, greeting and selling ASHI merchandise for hours. This was during a lull when the attendees were in the educational sessions, the exhibit hall was fairly empty. Frank and Nick had just returned from a run to a local Dunkin Donuts shop for coffee and mammoth apple fritters. We had all just finished eating, talking and just having a good time with the other vendors during the lull.
Many pictures were taken, it was like folks were trying to immortalize this moment in history. This picture is nothing more than what it is, a picture. I don't think it was difficult for any of us to have this picture taken, we are all adults and we all have made commitments and sacrifices to the profession. It is always best to take the high road and to learn from past mistakes, be those that you have made or those of others.
We all had a good time at the conference, met new inspectors and enrolled several into ASHI. NAHI and GAHI (Georgia Association of Home Inspectors) were in attendance as well. I would expect that based on that this was the first year for this conference that it will become one of the major educational events in the profession for years to come.

No arms were broken in this picture but the donuts did not survive.
