Go To My PC.COM
I just connected to http://www.gotomypc.com this past week and I really think that it will make my life easier when it comes to working away from my home/office computer. I have already completed a home inspection report and a commercial draw report while sitting in a coffee shop on free WiFi.

This service allows you to access your main computer from any other computer with Internet access, and work just like you were sitting in front of it.

Yes, it cost money but with the time and stress that I have saved myself just this past week I would say that it has already paid for itself. You get a 30 day free trial, and then it is around $150 for year of service.

Thought I would pass this along for anyone that might like to try it out.

Thanks Scott.

Some may also want to consider using a portable hard drive or even a thumb drive and using a product called MOJOPAC

View the demo in the link. It allows you to use all your applications even on someone else's computer. It's free for personal use.

Re: Go To My PC.COM
My business partner and I use it to share a computer so we can pass the company phones back and forth and just so we both have access to everything without having to pay for an office space.

It's really an amazing technology. As the others mentioned, it's really nice to be able to access everything when you're away from home. For the money it costs, it's well worth it.

I've completed inspection reports and draw reports in coffee shops and parking areas, all without remote control of my office PC.

While I do think it has merits, (trips out of town, conferences, etc.) some things don't need to be complicated.

www.logmein.com also has a free version that works great. As far as I could tell, it does everything goto my PC does without the cost.

File sharing and remote printing are the main things you do not get with the free account. Other than that it is a good service, I tried it before I went with Go to My PC.

Re: Go To My PC.COM
I've been using GoToMyPc for years now and love it.

When I travel I use my notebook just to log into my office computer. That way there is no problem if I lose, drop or notebook it stolen.

With this link I believe you can get a free trial and $10.00 off.
