Old gas floor furnace
I have seen these old gas floor furnaces before, but this is the first I have found on an inspection. This might be the original 1940 unit. When I turned it on it really started putting out the heat. As a was standing on the floor grill above it I started to realize that my shoes were melting into the floor grill.

Re: Old gas floor furnace
I haven't seen many floor furnaces that old. Did you recommend the floor furnace be inspected by a qualified heating technician? If not you should. There is a high likelihood there is a crack somewhere in that heat exchanger.

Yes I will most definitely be recommending an HVAC contractor take a closer look.

Re: Old gas floor furnace
Probably a good 25% of my inspections involve old gas floor furnaces. Sometimes they are so big and completely take up the small hallway so that if it were on for too long, one would have to jump over it.

I still have the scars on my leg from one of these.
The grid on my leg is wider now than original.
