    Default Return air vent

This return air vent is right next to the furance and the doors to the mechanical room are sliding doors, so they do not close tightly. This place was built in 1991. Is this acceptable or does the return have to be ten feet from the furnace.

    Default Re: Return air vent

Most manufactured homes I see have the return air opening essentially right on top of the furance so I don't see any problem with the distance. I'm not sure I understand the door thing. Basically, there should be a good path or airflow to the return air entry point (laundry room door shouldn't close off the flow, etc.)
