    I wouldn't stop there

    As a WAG I'd say 30 years....

For some reason oil furnaces seem to be harder to find a definitve date.

With units like that I typically just say 25+ years old and state that it's operating (or not) past its typical life expectancy. Also, aside from the operation, the efficiency is so poor that the payback period for replacing can be relatively short.

15% increased efficiency can easily translate into $300 a year in savings X 10 years and you've got a new furnace. Not to mention the lack of maintaing and repairing the old beast.

Use the first letter for the month (skipping 1 ) and the first two digits are the year.

If its quite old the blower may have a date stamped on it, which the maufacturer of blowers used to do.

The flue need more than replacement.

There's some serious condensation occurring with flue gases. It needs to be evaluated for size, length, material and draft control.
