    Default Corrosion at coil

    It is rare that I see the coil at a home inspection, however this coil was visible at a recent inspection of a modular home. From what I've heard and read the corrosion shown in the attached picture is typical. (only about the coil, not the pan). Is this correct?...or have I been misinformed.

    That is fairly consistent, but in homes with Chinese drywall the entire coil would be black from the sufuric acid when the material in the drywall comes in contact with the wet coil.

    You may see more corrosion where the copper coil comes in contact with the steel frame or the coil.

    Looks like our coils here in Charleston. Some one has been using a thick restrictive filter and causing a lot of condensation.
