Age of Carrier brand evaporator
Can any of you guys help me with age of Carrier brand evaporator. I can decode most condenser serial numbers but cannot decode this evaporator number. Serial number is written in ink on cabinet. Any help appreciated. See photo.
Thanks

Re: Age of Carrier brand evaporator
Gene,
Beginning in the 1970, Carrier began to use a letter followed by a single digit year.
Example: A1 = Jan 1971
More recently Carrier has simplified things using the first four digits in ser# to signify age, where first two digits indicate week and third and fourth indicate year of manufacture.
May be July 1970 Does the unit appear older?

Re: Age of Carrier brand evaporator
Hi James, thanks. The unit did not "appear" to be a 70s vintage, maybe late 80's or early 90's vintage, but hey, I have been fooled before by trying to guess the age. The condenser it was matched up with was a 1993 model. This unit was in a home built in 1959.
Thanks

Maybe they transposed a few numbers in the ser#! I would propably state that the age of evap could not be determined!
