Funny Noises
Not so funny really.
1986 Weil MClain gas fired boiler
Started her up and everything normal.
When it reached temp, it started making sound like water dripping onto the burner tube.
The sound would continue for a short while after the unit shut down, still with no water evidence.
I layed on the floor for a few minutes and watched and saw no overspray or water dripping.
I did get a gas smell at times when i retuned to the boiler room to check again.
So, i'm stumped, water or gas problem.
Anyone ever experience anything like this?
I never heard a boiler do this before

Could be condensation.

Re: Funny Noises
Small crack or leak between sections. You didn't mention if it was a cold start boiler.

Re: Funny Noises
Might also check for a clogged flue or chimney. I have found everything from birds to brick pieces on top of boilers. The built up flue gasses could condensate.
