    Default uh oh

    Here's an interesting shot taken through the ash cleanout door of a 1930's cape. Could thay have done anything else wrong.

    it's not the wood.
    Although a fire there would burn well,
    due to
    that furnace flue at the right side. That is not allowed to share this ash pit.
    Or is that a louisiana barometric damper
    and yes to all!
    but them home show showfers drive benseses around here abouts

    Would there be a second or third story fireplace above this one ?

    Billy, no, 2 floor cape.
    1 fireplace 1st floor
    furnace and water heater into flue at right side of photo from basement.
    I,ve only found this once before.
    same format
    stuck my camera in the cleanout hatch and started snapping pics
    The first house was a 5 year old 3 million dollar house
    they tore the chimney apart to fix it.
    this one has a 30 year old furnace and a 1 year old water heater
    I would go to condensing on both and give you the water heater
    still waiting for Bob's input.
    Ash cleanout door is also broken so fresh air input to the chamber is present.
