    Default Max Amp rating on outside AC

    Okay Fellow Inspecotrs, here goes another probably simple question, but I sure would like some input.
    When inspecting the heat pump, or outside AC, on the tag is a max amp rating. Most outside disconnects I see do not have amp rated protection, just pulls to kill the electric. Does this mean the breaker in the main panel should NOT exceed the max amp rating on the unit tag?? Thanks
