What is this MaxiMiser devise?
Although decommissioned, I'd love to know what this devise is that was mounted on the return duct of a home constructed in 1977.
I've Googled the MaxiMiser name, including with the trademark, including reference to National Electronics, Inc., including "Temp Recovery" ....all to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any insightful clarification.

Re: What is this MaxiMiser devise?
I wouldn't call it snake oil, but I don't see it saving 10-20% on HVAC costs. There are some units out there that instantly shut the fan off when the compressor shuts, wasting air that can still be cooled. This device seems to sense the temperature of the intake and return and adjust the fan to shut off accordingly when the lingering cooling/heating effect is no longer viable. I can see it working in theory, maybe 1-3% more efficient depending on the type of system.

Are you saying that snake oil had/has no benefit for anything?
Just like that may ... in theory ... have some benefit for something.
If you purchased a car which was supposed to get 100 mpg but, in theory, actually was able to get 10-30 mpg ... you wouldn't accuse the sales person of selling snake oil?

Snake oil is a preparation that comes from the Chinese water snake and which is used widely in the treatment of joint pain. This is an 'alternative' treatment for ...
Snake oil it is then.
I mean there may be some benefit to the goofy device, besides providing income for the merchant.
