Oil fired boiler
It's always a head scratcher when you find heating equipment that has not been maintained by the homeowner. I guess its true you can't fix stupid.

Yeah anybody with half a brain would scrape up that mess before they invite you to inspect it.

That is timely, I just sent this to someone else who found something stupid ... some things can be fixed, but 'stupid' is not one of them.
No matter HOW SIMPLE something is made, there will always be someone who can figure out a 'stupid' way to circumvent it.

I recently read that you can educate dumb people and you can medicate crazy people but you can't fix stupid people. Thank goodness for stupid people, they kept me employed.

just so everyone doesn't focus on the creeping crud only, note the 30 gauge elbow. Min. 26 ga. for 6". Yes, people are so apathetic they don't even attempt to hide the warts anymore.
Keep the fire in the fireplace.
