What is the insulation on this ductwork?
Is anyone familiar with SONOAIRDUCT?
I found several pieces of this ductwork abandoned in an attic this morning. It was laying around the edges and I couldn't reach it. The insulation around it appears to be of a fiberous material. My thought is asbestos. The house was built in 1949 - not sure when the ductwork was first added in the attic. I have the report finished but haven't sent it yet. My report reads as follows:
The heat and A/C ductwork has been replaced at some time. The old ductwork is laying abandoned in the attic area. Insulation around this abandoned ductwork may contain asbestos. Local and federal laws dictate proper disposal. : Lab testing is the only way to verify. Recommend EPA web site for more information. Asbestos | US EPA
Recommend removal and proper disposal of abandoned ductwork and all associated insulation material.
Does anyone know if this is asbestos?
Thanks,
Larry
