Age of AC unit
I am trying to find out how old my GE a/c heating unit is. The model no. is BTR060A300A1 and the serial no. is 260578935 My house was build in 1954. Could this be the original system?
Thanks

Does it look like the one on this web page with the same model number?

Re: Age of AC unit
It looks like the picture John Arnold sent me. I know it was not made in 2005 because we have lived in this house 15 years and it was here when we purchased the home. Thanks for the GE number I will call and ask them.

Re: Age of AC unit
5 ton unit.
Call GE.
If its been there for the last 15 years and you run it hard and it finally died, I would say it had a good life.
Replace, move on.

Re: Age of AC unit
Meredith,
If that condensing unit is 15 yrs. old, retire that sucker. Its not worth putting a dollar into. Your actually spending more money to operate it than the new units.
Bite the bullet, and update your HVAC system. Plus you can get a tax credit.
