Ventilating Kitchen Island Electric Ranges
Is there any code requirement(s) for ventilation of an electric range mounted in a free-standing kitchen island? I don't think so.

No.

None for gas either.

Not unless the manufacturer of the appliance specifically calls for it in their installation instructions, and I have seen this with the 'Professional" series / types of gas cooking equipment.
