Clearance for an air conditioner
I'm wondering if there have been any carrier unit that allow under 24 inch clearance from top of unit. My thinking is no. I did a search but no luck on Carrier units.

Re: Clearance for an air conditioner
Depending on the model the clearances are different. The York units have 2 clearances depending on the model. The min. height clearance is 48" and the other units have a 60" clearance. I imagine that Carrier might have the same situation.

Re: Clearance for an air conditioner
Brian, that is the full web address.
Copy and paste the entire string into you address bar and it takes you to the pertinent information. I just tried it and it works for me.

Re: Clearance for an air conditioner
STEP 3.— Clearance Requirements
When installing, allow sufficient space for airflow clearance,
wiring, refrigerant piping, and service. Allow 30--in. clearance to
service end of unit and 48 in. above unit. For proper airflow, a
6--in. clearance on 1 side of unit and 12 in. on all remaining sides
must be maintained. Maintain a distance of 24 in. between units.
Position so water, snow, or ice from roof or eaves cannot fall
directly on unit.

Re: Clearance for an air conditioner
You can make it easier for everyone by creating a link to the site like this:
Carrier Installation Instructions
To create a link simply type the following:
{url= WEB SITE ADDRESS (e.g., www.inspectionnews.net) } WEB SITE NAME {/url}
NOTE: Replace the { } brackets with [ ] brackets.
