Electric Furnace Duct Sensor?
Hi Gents This is my first post and I still have a lot to learn it seems. Just started my second year inspecting and have gotten a lot of great info from this site the last year. This electric furnace installation looks dodgy to me. Any ideas on what looks like a sensor on the bottom of the flex duct that goes into the attic. Any feedback appreciated. Peter Stapleton

Re: Electric Furnace Duct Sensor?
It looks like a damper (motorized) typically used in a zone control system.
What a hack job that is...

Re: Electric Furnace Duct Sensor?
My guess would be a damper motor that controls fresh air. Look for something that looks like a oversized fireplace fresh air inlet on the outside wall. If that is what it is, they should have connected it to the return air plenum. (OH, wait, we don't have a return plenum. Well just mount it next to the return filter, close enough)
I really love the control wire laying on top of the filter.

Re: Electric Furnace Duct Sensor?
Thanks for the feedback guys. The warning label Billy had info about clearances and safety requirements in relation to working on the unit.
