attic furnace flex pipe and exhaust stack
found this flex pipe and exhaust pipe in an attic today--and wonder what you think-----that's taking the word flex to the max----the exhaust stack is tilted and there is a 1/2 inch gap between the metal stack and the hard plastic coupler inside furnace----did get a co reading at gap----also should that top opening be covered because of the other stack exit---i wrote the flex pipe up as being stressed and a safety hazard--also wrote up the co reading and gap in stack as safety hazard and recommended a licenced {NATE OR ENERGY STAR} HVAC TECHNICIAN EVALUATE---THATS FOR THE IMPUT

Charlie,

That furnace looks like it was made for upright or side mount thus the two opening in the cabinet.

I don't think there is a covering made for that opening.

The only sure way to tell would be to read the install instructions.

I would report the flex, gap,CO readings call for a Licensed HVAC and let it go.

Re: attic furnace flex pipe and exhaust stack
Looks like the "B" vent connector is bent and that is why it is not fitting on the furnace exhaust flue.

The gas line is kinked and needs replacing.
