TXV valve mean it's a heat pump ?
Does the presence of a Thermostatic Expansion valve indicate a system is a heat pump ? If not, when is a TXV used. Some systems have them and some do not. Not sure I understand when and why.

Thx

Gene

Re: TXV valve mean it's a heat pump ?
Gene; the presence of an expansion valve doesn't mean that system is a heat pump or not. An expansion valve regulates the flow of refrigerant flowing through the system by monturing high side and low side pressures.
It is a great way of helping systems run at peek and efficiant capacites and is used on both heat pump and standard systems general cost of this upgrade (is not standard) is around 400.00
