Hello Gentlemen,

Would anyone happen to have a resource to find the manufactur date of this Heat Pump. It is by Nordyne/Gibson and the model# is JT3BA-024KA.

Greatly appreciated.

Re: Help with Manufacture Date, please
That would be the # that I didnt write down. The house is close to my sisters, maybe I can stop back by. Plus, that will really impress the client.

Anyone know where I can get an inexpensive Prestons Guide CD?

Thanks.

Hi Eric,

Just curious as to why you want to know the date of mfg. Was the unit not cooling properly or are you trying to tell your client it's age.

None of the standards that most inspectors work under require you to tell the age of the unit. I stopped list the age many years back.

Re: Help with Manufacture Date, please
I've always listed the age as a reference point for the client, when I could identify the age. Because I have a blurp embedded in my report that says "The statistical life expectancy of A/C units is 8-12 years". I always explain that I have seen some working just fine after 20 years and some that dont work so well after 3 years. It's a young couple, first home and they are nervous about everything.

Trying to go that extra mile, plus I have to admit that I really want their realtor on my team. She seems like a top-seller.

Re: Help with Manufacture Date, please
Eric,

I always took a photo of the nameplate with that information on it, and included the photo with the report.

That way I did not have to write down the model number/serial number/etc., ... nor go back to look at it ...

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO,.......GET THE POINT???

DO NOT BUY PRESTON'S GUIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAVE HAD IT FOR THE LAST YEAR AND I HAVE YET TO FIND THE ANSWER TO ANYONE'S QUESTION IN THAT TIME ON THIS BOARD.

I would strongly suggest looking into Carlson Dunlap's tech reference or what ever it is called. Preston's sucks in my opinion. Like I said, in the last year that I have owned it, I have yet to find the answer to any one's question with it????????????

Waste of good money I say. But maybe I'm biased???

Yes, what Tim said! Buy the Carson Dunlap book over the Preston guide.

Re: Help with Manufacture Date, please
Thanks fellas. It was a subtle message, but, I got the point, will not be buying Preston's guide.
