Re: BC to license home inspectors - BCLocalNews
Hi Brian,
The link to this topic page does not exist any more. Do you have any more info on this subject. I'm about to start a Home inspection training course in BC, and wondering what association the Gov. will use as the lead assoc.?
Thx.
Steve

Re: BC to license home inspectors - BCLocalNews
The new Solicitor General for British Columbia, John Van Dongen, has been on record as stating to the effect he saw no value in such legislation.
However I do know that CAHPI-BC have invited John Van Dongen to speak to a meeting of CAHPI members this month.
Don't forget you also have another association in BC with BCIPI/ASTTBC thrown into the mix, so as in Alberta if any legislation is on the horizion in BC every association would be included in the pre legislation discussions.
Cheers,

Cheers,
I was at that meeting and while it does look promising I think it's still a ways away. There has been a tremendous amount of work done by many to come up with National Standards Certification open to all Home Inspectors but from that meeting it sounded like the gov't is going to set up a committee (of non-HI's) to develop their own Standards and qualifying criteria. So who knows where that will take us - hopefully it won't be a disaster.
