Thread: Can you say no?

We've finally got a pretty nice run of business in my area... or least I have and find myself unable to turn down an inspection if at all possible.

I'm even doing a big new house on Sunday this week because I just can't say no to a nice high fee on a nice new house.

I feel like the camel that made it across the desert and finally found water after the last few years of terrible levels of home sales.

My knees and back hurt and my family doesn't recognize me but I just keep filling my schedule because I'm thankful to have work and know it could be gone tomorrow.

So, does anyone have the same disease?

I gotta say I don't have a problem saying no when things get crazy. All work and no play makes Nick a dull and unhappy boy.

I have been busy and then absolutely nothing and then get busy and then absolutely nothing. Frustrating at best. I keep pushing myself out there but I guess it all depends on the immediate area you are in. I know Rick over in Rockwell has been straight out busy but he is on the other side of the Metroplex.

I would rather be a steady slow (of course a steady busy would be better) than the hopeful of a rush of work and then nothing repeated over and over all spring.

Matt, I'm the same way. I'm in a small market, so I have to make hay while the sun is shining. I'll have enough idle days from November to February. For me, a lot of it is also keeping my competitors from gaining any market share more than making extra money.

I have to say that I am slightly out of practice for doing two a day, 5 days a week - but I'll take it. I'm busy, but just not scheduled as far out as it usually is (was) at this time of year.

I do 4 days a week that generally run 12 hours and am pretty absolute about not doing Friday through Sunday.
I can't say no so I have a scheduling service that says no for me.
I know I lose a few jobs but it's amazing how any people decide maybe they can take a day off to attend. One of the reasons I'm not flexible is I would rather not have the client there.
The main problem lately is the short inspection periods. I lose alot of work because I am booked out a week, it used to be 3 weeks. Times have changed!

We ended up having a great May but there was a definite hicup after the poor housing/employment numbers were released last week. We're starting to pick back up and are pretty well booked for the rest of the week, thankfully. It's funny how fragile the consumers' minds are these days.

Did anyone else see a letup after last week's news?
