    Default Thermostat location

Does anybody know of any codes in the IRC that state prohibited locations for a furnace thermostat. I found a thermostat in a Utility Room 3'-0" away from the furnace. Need a code refference.

I don't known about the code. but the placement is key to the operation of the system.

This would be something that the manufacturer would address in their install guidelines, I have never seen it covered in a code.

For the thermostat to work properly you would need to have an air supply and return in the room, and then this would cause another issue.

I would not worry about a code. I would report that this is a bad location for the thermostat to work properly and that it should be relocated to a central area in the home or as required by the manufacturer of the system.
