Re: Elmer W. Bergman, PE-CE
I don't live in New Jersey, but in most areas of the U.S. we use some version of the International Building Code. The particular one often varies by city and county. The International Building Code is a model code - it has no weight until it is adopted by local building officials. In many communities and states they take the model code and make local modifications to it so technically they have their own version of it that is unique to them. I'd start by checking the county's website. Usually they have links to the local code officials, local modificaitons to the code, and contact information. Where I live they have a page on the county assessor's page that will tell me what local jurisdiction the site falls under.
Of course this might all be known to you. Sorry for the long answer to say I'm not sure.
