Dampers
I have found out that dampers are supposed to be held open a quarter inch on gas fire places. I was told this is code that can be found in nfpa211...anybody know where? Thanks, Brad

Re: Dampers
Welcome Brad!
Not trying to discourage you from asking, but this has been discussed many times, and often you can get info the quickest with a search.
I came up with this very quickly:

Re: Dampers
No, no, no! You didn't ask the wrong stuff! As I said, I'm not trying to discourage you from asking. Ask, by all means. But there is a huge repository of info at your fingertips whereby you can often get answers very fast instead of waiting for someone to reply.
Please don't be shy about asking! That's what the forum is all about.

Re: Dampers
In the 2006 IRC, 1004.4 doesn't say anything about dampers.
I think you have to go with the NFPA Table 10.6.2.3 for unlisted fireplaces. For listed fireplaces, you go by the manufacturer.
You can view the NFPA 54 at
http://www.nfpa.org/freecodes/free_a...nt.asp?id=5406 .
Go to page 74.
